Photobooks by Martin Parr

As a social observer, Martin Parr loves photobooks. From this passion, three books are born designed in collaboration with historian Gerry Badger. They have become international references on the history of photobooks. This very complete chronology from the beginnings is not expected to be exemplary, but simply to relate the collector’s taste and passion for printed photography. Following the example of Martin Parr’s collection, the constitution of Frac Bretagne’s “multiple collections and artists’ editions” is linked to the institution topicality and its activity. It contitutes a remarquable editorial panorama of art where printed photography holds a significant place. The selection of artists’ books presented in Mémoire et lieu is inspired by the chapters of The Photobook: A History Volume II and III by Martin Parr and Gerry Badger.
